Os princípios de “objetividade” e “imparcialidade” no jornalismo são construções históricas atreladas à adequação da linguagem jornalística a novos padrões industriais e às necessidades da sociedade de consumo. Nessa perspectiva, tomando como foco a emergência do jornal O Povo, este trabalho apresenta uma discussão sobre o desenvolvimento do jornalismo cearense nas décadas de 1920 e 1930, analisando as relações entre os paradigmas “opinativo” e “informativo” na atividade jornalística. Vale destacar que, no contexto do jornalismo cearense dessa época, as fronteiras entre “informação” e “opinião” ainda eram muito tênues, entretanto predominava o paradigma “opinativo”, tendo em vista que a atividade jornalística possuía, sobretudo, um caráter político-partidário e ainda não estavam consolidados os padrões de produção do emergente jornalismo informativo.
The principles of "objectivity" and "impartiality" in journalism are historic constructions linked to the adequacy of the journalistic language, to new industry standards and the needs of the consumer society. In this perspective, focusing on the arising of O Povo newspaper, this work presents a discussion on the development of Ceará’s journalistic activity in the 1920s and 1930s. The intention is to analyze the journalistic relations between the paradigms "opinionative" and "informative". It is worth noting that, at that context, the journalism draw faint lines between the paradigms of "information" and "opinion" . but the predominant paradigma was, however, the "opinionative". This is due since the journalistic activity had,above all, a political-partisan and the production standards of the emerging informative journalism were still not consolidated.
