The text brings a critical reflection on the challenges of (in) the teaching of Mathematics through the applicability of ludic activities in the scope of systematized education (formal education). The influence of games on the development of mathematical notions in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education I (1st to 5th year) was approached, emphasizing the defense of the playful as a pedagogical resource based on such theoreticians as Kishimoto (1993), Vygotsky (1998) and Huizinga (1996), among others, which allowed us to analyze the importance of playful activities as a potential tool for the acquisition and fixation of mathematical concepts, seeking to understand these pedagogical practices as facilitating mechanisms for learning this curricular component.
