O artigo discute como os principais grupos étnicos responsáveis pela construção do Oeste de Santa Catarina criaram e adaptaram a sua vida sócio-cultural. Era no cotidiano da família, da escola e da igreja, assim como nas testas religiosas e laicas, que a etnicidade era construída e renegociada através da incorporação, adaptação e ampliação de suas práticas sócio-culturais.
This article discusses how the main ethnic groups, which were responsible for the construction of the West of the State of Santa Catarina, created their social and cultural life. It was in the daily life of the family, the school and the church, as well as at the secular and religious commemoration activities, that their ethnicity was constructed and renegotiated through the incorporation, adaptation and amplification of their social and cultural practices.
