A greve dos professores do Estado do Ceará iniciada em agosto de 2011 é fruto de um processo jurídico e político que tem origem em 2006 com uma Emenda Constitucional que instituiu o Fundo de Manutenção e Desenvolvimento da Educação Básica e de Valorização dos Profissionais da Educação – FUNDEB, garantindo a classe, entre outras coisas, um piso salarial nacional, sendo regulamentado pela Lei 11.738/2008, questionada no Supremo Tribunal Federal que reconheceu em 2011 sua constitucionalidade. O presente ensaio se propõe a analisar o papel das redes sociais na referida greve, refletindo sobre a relação entre os movimentos sociais e o uso da tecnologia ao longo da história, utilizando Milton Santos (2008) para analisar o progresso das ciências e das técnicas, além da noção de geografia das redes (SANTOS, 2009); discutindo o conceito de sociedade em rede de Emanuel Castell (2005) e a ideia de Nobert Elias (1994) de que vivemos em rede. A metodologia utilizada consiste na análise qualitativa de documentos, que vai além do estudo do material disponível na internet, tanto em sites como em softwares sociais, sendo uma reflexão das relações estabelecidas entre os dados e as pessoas envolvidas.

This essay is to analyze the role of social networks in that strike, reflecting on the relationship between social movements and the use of technology throughout history, using Milton Santos (2008) to analyze the progress of science and technology, in addition to notion of geography networks (SANTOS, 2009), discussing the concept of network society Castell Emanuel (2005) and the idea of Nobert Elias (1994) that we live in a network. The methodology consists in the qualitative analysis of documents, which goes beyond the study of the material available on the internet, both on websites and in social software, being a reflection of the relationship between the data and the people involved.
