Metáfora e metonÃmia já não são concebidas como processos conceitualmente independentes. Porém, apesar do crescente interesse voltado a essa interação podemos verificar que os trabalhos dedicados a este estudo voltam-se exclusivamente a interação presente no modo verbal, deixando à margem outros modos que compõem os denominados discursos multimodais. Diante disso, temos como objetivo neste artigo demonstrar a forma pela qual a interação metafórica e metonÃmica pode ser codificada nos diferentes modos que compõem um discurso, em especial, a interação apresentada nos modos verbal e imagético. Como resultado foi possÃvel observarmos que essa interação ocorre não apenas no modo verbal, mas nos e entre o modo verbal e o imagético na construção de sentidos.
Metaphor and metonymy are no longer conceived as conceptually independent. However,
despite the increasing interest devoted to this interaction we can see that the work dedicated to this study back up only the interaction present in the verbal mode, leaving the other modes that make up the multimodal discourse. Therefore, we aim in this article to demonstrate the way in which this interaction can be encoded in different ways composing discourse particularly in its verbal and imagetic modes. As result it was possible to observe that this interaction occurs not only in verbal mode, but between verbal and imagetic modes in the construction of meaning.
