O presente artigo propõe apresentar algumas características do fenômeno da Jane Austen Fan Fiction (JAFF), histórias escritas por fãs atuais da autora inglesa Jane Austen (1775 - 1817) baseadas, principalmente, no romance Orgulho e Preconceito. Entre essas características, estão a repetição da história de amor em um estilo sentimentalista e o foco no final feliz, o papel do mercado editorial através da livraria americana Amazon e, não menos importante, o diálogo intermidiático e intertextual construído pelos fãs que envolve outras fan fictions, adaptações de cinema e TV e o romance original. Esse diálogo será analisado a partir de trechos de algumas histórias selecionadas e também uma versão de Orgulho e Preconceito no formato de quadrinhos japonês mangá.
This essay aims to present some important characteristics of the Jane Austen Fan Fiction phenomenon (JAFF), the current production of stories by fans of the English writer Jane Austen (1775 - 1817) based mainly on her novel Pride and Prejudice. Among these characteristics are the repetition of the love plot in a sentimental style and the focus on the happy ending, the role of the editorial market through the American bookstore Amazon, and, even more important, the intermedia and intertextual dialogue constructed by fans between previous fan fictions, movie and TV adaptations and, obviously, the original novel. This dialogue will be analyzed through a selection of fan fictions and also a version of Pride and Prejudice in the Japanese comic novel style called manga.
