Este artigo analisa a narrativa “As cidades e as trocas 5â€, que integra o livro As cidades invisÃveis, de Ãtalo Calvino, a partir das noções de temas, figuras e isotopias oriundas do quadro teórico-metodológico da semiótica francesa (ou greimasiana). Seguindo a proposta de sentido construÃda no/pelo texto – que possui figuração abundante e apresenta percursos semânticos que se opõem para descrever a cidade de Esmeraldina –, identifica que a narrativa aponta para o trajeto enquanto espaço, para depois valorizar a singularidade do espaço sem trajetos, dialogando, de modo original, com os princÃpios da Tábua Esmeraldina, um dos livros atribuÃdos a Hermes Trimegisto.
This article analyses the narrative “As cidades e as trocas 5â€, included in the book The invisible cities, by Ãtalo Calvino, using the notions of themes, figures and isotopies proposed by French Semiotics (or Greimas’ Semiotics). Following the ways in which meaning is constructed in/by the text – that has many figures and semantic paths that oppose to one another in the description of the city of Esmeraldina –, it firstly identifies itinerary as space and then enhances the singularity of space without previous itineraries, establishing a dialogue, in a very original way, with the principles of the Smaragdine Tablet, one of the books attributed to Hermes Trimegisto.
