Este artigo busca descrever a utilização da tecnologia da informação (TI) como um diferencial nos escritórios de contabilidade de Imperatriz – MA. Relata o uso da tecnologia da informação, agregada ao sistema de informação utilizado nos escritórios, e a estrutura de informática dos mesmos. Descreve as características básicas dos escritórios contábeis de Imperatriz, tendo como objetivos específicos: a estrutura de informática dos escritórios contábeis; a identificação dos softwares mais utilizados nos escritórios de contabilidade da cidade e a integração dos sistemas. O estudo utilizou a metodologia descritiva, procedimentos bibliográficos e de campo para identificar informações sobre o uso da Tecnologia da Informação nas empresas contábeis da cidade. Como instrumento de coleta de dados, utilizou-se questionário com questões objetivas e subjetivas que serviu para atender aos objetivos da pesquisa. O resultado evidencia, que as empresas contábeis são cada vez mais dependentes da Tecnologia da Informação, e que existe uma busca constante de atualização de programas para atender as exigências governamentais e a demanda do mercado no setor de prestação de serviços.
This article aims to describe the use of information technology (IT) as a differentiator in the accounting offices in Imperatriz-MA. Reports the use of information technology to aggregate the information system used in offices and computer structure thereof. It describes the basic features of the Imperatriz accounting offices, with the following objectives: a computer structure of the accounting offices; the identification of the most used software in the city accounting offices and integration of systems. The study used the descriptive methodology, bibliographic procedures and field to identify information on the use of Information Technology in the city's business accounting. Data collection instrument was used questionnaire with objective and subjective questions that served to meet the research objectives. The result shows that the financial companies are increasingly dependent on Information Technology and there is a constant search for updating programs to meet government requirements and market demand in the service sector.
