Este artigo discute a importância da observação como prática pedagógica no ensino de Geografia, visto que o ato de observar constitui ação fundamental para análise e compreensão das relações que os sujeitos sociais estabelecem entre si e com o meio em que vivem. Para tanto, recorre-se a levantamento bibliográfico, a fim de embasar a importância da observação na análise e na compreensão das relações socioespaciais. Tomando como referencial empírico as práticas cotidianas de sala de aula em turmas do Ensino Fundamental I, defende-se que a observação é um poderoso instrumento metodológico para ensinar/aprender Geografia, validando a ideia de que o ato de olhar também revela o que está além do visível.
This article discusses the importance of the pedagogical observation as practice in the teaching of geography since the act of observing is fundamental to the analysis and understanding of social relationships that individuals establish among themselves and with the environment in which they live. Literature is used in order to base the importance of observation in the analysis and understanding of socio-spatial relationships. Taking as reference the official document Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCNs) – Geography and daily practices of empirical classroom at the Elementary School Classes, it is argued that the observation is a powerful methodological tool for teaching / learning geography. The observing as a science that reveals what is beyond the visible.
