This article provides a reading of the satirical work Sonho tão claro que se fez
dormindo, by Frei Lucas de Santa Catarina, emphasizing the criticim produced by the baroque
Portuguese literature, even under repression, as well as the ingeniosity and the verbal virtuosity of
that aesthetic.
