Este ensaio se propõe a analisar as práticas de afetividade e de sociabilidade das mulheres de Nossa Senhora do Desterro no século XIX e do seu litoral continental. Os relatos que estudamos compreendem o período de 1712 a 1828 e o que neles analisamos são as leituras que os viajantes fizeram sobre as práticas afetivas femininas. Práticas estas registradas nos relatos dos viajantes estrangeiros que estiveram na ilha por diversos motivos. O que neles procuramos analisar são as imagens construídas pelo seu olhar diante da visibilidade feminina na Ilha de Santa Catarina. Imagens que instigavam seus leitores a uma pluralidade de interpretações sobre os modos de sociabilidade e afetividade da população feminina do Desterro.

This paper analyses the practices of affectivity and sociability of the women of Nossa Senhora do Desterro on the 19th century and the surrounding continental shore. The reports that we have studied grasp the period from 1712 to 1828 and what we have analysed on them are the readings that the travellers made about the female affectivity practices. These practices were registered on reports of foreign travellers that were on the island for several reasons. What we have analysed on them were the images built by their view before the female visibility on the Ilha de Santa Catarina. These images instigated their viewers to a plurality of interpretations on the ways of sociability and affectivity of female population on Desterro.
