No ensino da Geografia, as representações cartográficas são de fundamental importância para a construção do raciocÃnio sobre o espaço geográfico. Assim, preparar o aluno para o domÃnio da linguagem própria dessa representação deve ser um dos objetivos dessa disciplina em todos os nÃveis de escolarização da Educação Básica. Levando isso em conta, propomos aqui discutir os limites e as possibilidades da Cartografia Escolar no ensino, notadamente nos anos iniciais do Fundamental I, atentando para o fato de ser para esse nÃvel da Educação Básica que temos atuado na formação de professores para lecionar a Geografia. Portanto, nossas preocupações em práticas de pesquisa, ensino e extensão, nessa disciplina, têm se enveredado para esse estágio do ensino. Dito assim, partiremos, primeiramente, de uma breve análise sobre a importância de se ensinar a Cartografia Escolar nos anos escolares iniciais da Educação Básica,mais especificamente nos do Ensino Fundamental I; posteriormente, discutiremos os limites do seu ensino e as possibilidades de organizá-lo e realizá-lo para se alcançar o objetivo desejado, ou seja, possibilitar ao aluno ser um leitor e elaborador consciente de representações cartográficas do espaço; finalmente, teceremos breves considerações finais acerca da temática proposta nessa reflexão.
In the geography teaching, cartographic representations has a fundamental importance for the construction of reasoning about the geographic space. Therefore, prepare the student to the domain of this own language representation that should be one of the goals of this subject in all Basic Education scholar levels.Considering this, we suggest here to discuss the limits and possibilities of the School Cartography in teaching, especially in the elementary earliest years -equivalent to the Ensino Fundamental1in Brazilian educational system. Giving heed to the fact that this level of Basic Education we have worked in Geography teacher training.Thus, our concerns in: research practices, teaching and extension in this school subject has been going for this stageof education. Thereby, we set out, first, a brief analysis of the importance of teaching the School Cartography in the early school years of basic education, more specifically in the elementary school; later, we are going to discuss the limits of their teaching and the possibilities to organize it and carry it to achieve the desired goal.That is, enable the student to be a reader and winemaker conscious of cartographic representations of space;finally, we are going to make brief final comments about the proposed theme in this reflection
