Este artigo procura fazer uma revisão das leituras da grande obra de Cervantes,
mostrando a pluralidade das interpretações, inclusive as contradições entre elas,
especialmente nas duas grandes linhas interpretativas: a cômica e a romântica. Visa também
destacar sua relação com a história, com as mudanças que passava a sociedade espanhola no
final do século XVI e inÃcio do XVII. Além disso indaga sobre a possÃvel vinculação do
Quixote com a literatura utópica, através da influência de Erasmo, ressaltando o episódio em
que Sancho Pança se torna governador da ilha Baratária.
This article seeks to review the readings of Cervantes' great work, showing the
plurality of interpretations, including the contradictions between them, especially the two
main interpretations: the comic and romantic. It also aims to highlight its relationship with
history, with the changes that Spanish society was going through in the late sixteenth and
early seventeenth centuries. Also inquire about the possible link of the Quixote with utopian
literature, through the influence of Erasmus, emphasizing the episode in which Sancho
becomes governor of the island of Barataria.
