O Novo Institucionalismo é hoje uma das mais influentes alternativas teóricas e metodológicas da ciência polÃtica contemporânea. O objetivo deste artigo é examinar como a nova tradição institucional trata o problema agência-estrutura, as relações estado-sociedade, a criação e a mudança institucional, a formação de preferências, bem como o complexo campo das relações entre instituições, idéias, cultura, identidades e racionalidade. De um ponto de vista analÃtico, o artigo examina ainda o que são instituições polÃticas e como elas moldam e reproduzem resultados polÃticos. Não obstante, concluo este trabalho tratando das consonâncias e divergências que envolvem hoje os pesquisadores neo-institucionais a partir da criação de tradições concorrentes dentro de um mesmo paradigma.
Abstract
The New Institutionalism is one of the most powerful theoretical and methodological alternative of the contemporary Political Science nowadays. The purpose of this paper is to examine how the new institutional tradition treat the problem agency-structure, the Estate-society relations, the institutional creation and change, the formation of preferences, as though the complex field of the relations between institutions, ideas, culture, identity and rationality. From an analytical point of view, the paper examines what political institutions are and how they mould and reproduces political outcomes. However, I conclude this paper treating of the consonances and divergences that involve the neo-institutional researches nowadays from the creation of competitives traditions inside of the same paradigm.
