This article focuses on images of the Brazilian Northeast in films made in different historical moments: Barren lives (1963), by Nelson Pereira dos Santos, Twenty years later (1983), by Eduardo Coutinho, and Suely in the sky (2006), by Karim Ainouz. Each of these films shows different approaches to the northeast of Brazil and also interferes in the politics of the time they were made with particular proposals. At the same time, they highlight the possibility of identifying peculiar angles of social struggles and efforts of different human groups in order to express their political will. The article highlights the ability of film to bring out different voices and interpretations about their subject fields.
Cet article traite des images du nord-est du Brésil à partir de films produits dans différents moments historiques: Sécherèsse (1963), par Nelson Pereira dos Santos, Un homme à abattre (1983), par Eduardo Coutinho, et Le ciel de Suely (2006), par Karim Aînouz. Chacun de ces films montre des approches différentes au nord-est brésilien et aussi interfère dans l'analyse des politiques générales au moment où ils ont été faits avec des propositions particulières. Ils mettent en évidence aussitôt la possibilité d'identifier des angles particuliers de luttes sociales et les efforts des différents groupes humains dans le but d'exprimer leurs volontés politiques. L'article analyse la capacité des films à faire ressortir des différentes voix et des différents interprétations à proposde leurs domaines.
