O estudo da cultura na Geografia é a base para o entendimento de como se estabelecem as relações entre os diferentes grupos e a vivência em comunidade, uma vez que os objetos, elementos e símbolos têm importância na construção de sentido para esses grupos.Assim, as relações sociais e culturais moldam a organização do espaço rural ao mesmo tempo que são viabilizadas por essa organização, seja pela variedade de condições naturais e sociais ali encontradas, seja pela dinâmica interna à pequena produção pelas relações de auto sustento que se estabelecem. A reprodução de práticas e comportamentos fortalece as territorialidades e as dimensões funcionais e simbólicas que se expressam na paisagem. Nesse sentido, este artigo tem por objetivo apresentar um estudo sobre a Comunidade Quilombola do Grilo, localizada no espaço rural do Município de Riachão do Bacamarte –PB, com base na análise do processo de territorialidade e na identificação dos elementos culturais presentes na paisagem, em suas perspectivas funcionaise simbólicas. Nesse sentido, destacamos as principais formas de trabalho e suas contribuições para o fortalecimento dos laços identitários e as relações de sociabilidade

The study of culture in Geography is the base for the understanding about how the relations between the different groups of a community are established, once the objects, elements and symbols have importance in the building of meanings among these groups.Thus, social and cultural relationships shape the structure of the rural space at the same time as they are made possible by this structure, either for the variable natural conditions that can be found there or the dynamics related to the small productionthrough the self-sustainment that is established. The formation of different practices and behaviors strengthen the territorialities and the symbolical dimensions that are expressed by this landscape. Thus, this paper aims to present a research about the quilombola community called “Grilo”, located in the countryside of the town of Riachão do Bacamarte –PB, based on the analysis of the territorial process and on the identification of the cultural elements that are present in this landscape, in both its functional and symbolical perspectives. Accordingly, it is highlighted the main forms of work and their contribution to the strengthening of identity bonds and the social relationships.
