Resumos Cadastrados

This article is a result of a Workshop presented at the V Theology and Pastoral Simposium, promoted by Editora Paulus, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Latin-American Church Trajectory. It relates Pope Francis to the II General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate (Medellín), which happened from August 26th to September 6th, 1968. It presents the method of approach and the reasons that made the author rule out the two first attempts of analyses: first, the one of the quotations from the Medellín Document (MD) in the Evangelii Gaudium and in the Laudato Sí; and, the second, the one of quotations from MD in the Conclusions of the V General Conference of the Latin-American and Caribbean Episcopate, which took place in Aparecida (ApD). The two first attempts having been discarded, the third one, which deals with the relationship between Pope Francis and Medellín, should itself be fruitful by means of the Teología del Pueblo (a trend of the Freedom Theology applied in Argentina). In it the notions of People of God – of Conciliar Inspiration and applied to the Latin American Reality –, the option for the poor, the Ecclesiastic Communities of Base (ECB), the Collegiate and the popular piety can be seen related. Restored in Aparecida, through quotations from the Puebla and Santo Domingo Documents, they were assumed by Pope Francis, who revives them in his practices and his writings.
