Resumo Português:

O presente artigo traz um compilado de dados estatísticos sobre o analfabetismo no
Brasil, possíveis causas e justificativas, e sua relação com outros aspectos socioeconômicos
do país. Com base na observação e análise dos números fornecidos pelo Governo Federal, por
meio do IBGE (PNAD e Censo 2010), procuramos demonstrar a influência das políticas
públicas nos dados e, sobretudo de que forma esses números refletem (se é que refletem) a
realidade do país.

Resumo Inglês:

The current article holds a compilation of statistic data about illiteracy in Brazil,
possible causes and justification and its relationship with other socio-economical aspects of
the country. Based of the observation and analysis of the figures supplied by the Federal
Government through IBGE (PNAD and Census 2010). We have tried to demonstrate the
influence of public policies upon the gathered data and furthermore how these figures reflect
the reality of the country (whether they do).
