The objective of this study was to study the accumulation of dry matter and the absorption of nutrients by soybean ( Glyeine max. L. MerriI). Three varieties (Bragg, IAS-2 and Santa Rosa) had their physiological behavior observed in three soil types (Santa Maria, São Pedro and Vacacaí), in Rio Grande do Sul. In the first part of the study, varieties, determined the variation of fresh weight, dry weight and crude protein percentages, obtaining reports on samplings, plant age, stages of development and vegetative cycle. In the second part, it was observed absorption contents of some macro and micronutrients and their amplitudes. In the aerial parts there was accumulation of macronutrients micronutrientes, however, not being observed, however, great oscillations in the amounts of elements absorbed. Phosphorus was absorbed continuously and constantly until seed formation. As for potassium,
