Between 1880 and 1920 Bogotá’s first two urban parks were created: Centenario (1883) and Independencia (1910). The construction of both parks was done in a key moment of the city’s transformations. They were characterized by being a way to include nature in an organized way. This inclusion mixed two visions of nature: a romantic and a rational one. The main objective of this article is to analyze the way these two visions combined through the case study of both parks in Bogotá. This merging of visions was evident through the decisions and debates around the parks’ management.
