O objetivo deste estudo foi buscar elementos para a compreensão dos motivos da entrada dos professores
de Educação FÃsica como os responsáveis por ministrar aulas no Ciclo Básico em 1988; a retirada desse
profissional no ano de 1995; e o retorno em 2003. A inserção desse profissional no Ciclo Básico tinha a
função de auxiliar os alunos na aprendizagem de outras disciplinas. A retirada no ano de 1995 esteve
atrelada à s mudanças de ordem econômicas e polÃticas. Enquanto que o retorno desse profissional no ano
de 2003 esteve atrelado ao esforço de um secretário adjunto. A presença do professor especialista nesse
ciclo de ensino é de certa forma “refém†das polÃticas e concepções dos gestores educacionais, ou seja, os
movimentos polÃticos e econômicos da educação possuem mais significância quando no momento da
definição da presença ou ausência do professor especialista do que aspectos de ordem pedagógica com
vistas a uma melhor oferta da qualidade de ensino.

The objective of this study was to search elements for the understanding reasons of the entrance of the
teachers of Physical Education as the responsible ones for giving lessons in the Basic Cycle in 1988; the
retreat of this professional in the year of 1995; and the return of this professional in 2003. The insertion of
this professional in the Basic Cycle had the function of assisting the pupils in the learning of others
disciplines. The retreat in the year of 1995 was followed by changes of economic and politics order.
Whereas the return of this professional in the year of 2003 was followed by efforts of an associate
secretary. The presence of the specialist teacher in this cycle of education is of certain form “hostage†of
the politics and conceptions of the educational managers, in other words, the politicians and educational
movements possess more significance when at the moment of the definition of the presence or absence of
the specialist teacher, than aspect of pedagogical order, with more offer of quality of education.
