Políticas linguísticas no Brasil: da dominação dos nativos ao silenciamento dos imigrantes

A língua é um corpo simbólico-político que está presente nas relações sociais e, consequentemente, na história das sociedades. As condições de funcionamento da língua Portuguesa ao longo dos séculos no Brasil não são homogêneas, haja vista que desde a chegada dos portugueses “às terras tupiniquinsâ€, são registrados momentos históricos e políticos distintos, os quais contribuíram de maneira diferente para a fixação do idioma lusitano. Cabe lembrar que grande parte delas atuou para o silenciamento dos idiomas daqueles que viviam aqui, processo que aconteceu diante de práticas coercitivas e xenofóbicas. Diante disso, este artigo discute as principais ações do Estado que serviram como base para a tentativa de criação de uma unidade linguística no Brasil.

The language is a symbolic-political body that is present in social relations and, consequently, in the history of societies. The conditions of operation of the Portuguese language throughout the centuries in Brazil aren’t homogeneous, since from the arrival of the Portuguese "to the tupiniquins lands ", different historical and political moments are recorded, which contributed in a different way for the fixation of the language Portuguese. It should be remembered that many of them acted to silence the languages of those who lived here, a process that happened in the face of coercive and xenophobic practices. Therefore, this article discusses the main actions of the State that served as the basis for the attempt to create a linguistic unity in Brazil.
