PREVENÇÃO E APOIO A PACIENTES COM FRATURA DE COLUNA VERTEBRAL

As lesões de coluna vertebral devem ser consideradas quanto ao aspecto epidemiológico e quanto ao prejuízo da qualidade de vida do paciente, por causar incapacitação física, total ou parcial e, ainda, por afetar negativamente as relações socioeconômicas e afetivas do indivíduo. Buscou-se, por meio de um projeto de extensão, levantar dados e promover ações educativas de prevenção e auxílio a pacientes lesionados na coluna vertebral. Foi elaborada uma cartilha, abordando as principais causas de lesões na coluna vertebral, com dicas sobre como prevenir essas lesões e informações sobre os direitos das pessoas com deficiência física. O projeto foi desenvolvido concomitante a outro projeto acadêmico, no qual se investigou a qualidade de vida de pacientes com fratura na coluna vertebral, verificada pelo questionário SF36. A extensão possibilitou a interação entre acadêmicos e pacientes, por meio de visitas domiciliares. As cartilhas foram distribuídas em hospitais, unidades de atendimento integradas, unidades básicas de saúde, clínicas, escolas e faculdades e entregues a pacientes durante a pesquisa, que se sensibilizaram com o objetivo educativo e preventivo da proposta, ficando evidente a integração dos projetos de pesquisa e extensão.

The lesions of the spine should be considered both by the epidemiological aspect and the deterioration of the patient's quality of life once it causes total or partial physical disability and affects negatively the socioeconomic and emotional relationships of the person. This study seeks to collect data and to promote educational actions of prevention to spineinjured patients. It was made a leaflet approaching the main causes to spine injuries, tips on how to prevent those injuries and some information about the physically disabled people’s rights. The project was developed with another academic project, which investigated the quality of life of patients with spinal fracture, assessed through the SF-36 assessment tool. The extension allowed the interaction between students and patients and to go on home visits. The distribution of leaflets was made in hospitals, units of integrated care, basic health units, clinics, schools and colleges and also delivered to the patients during the research study which sensitized with the leaflets educational and preventive goal, evidencing the integration of research and extension projects.
