A raquianestesia é um dos métodos mais antigos para o alívio da dor durante procedimentos cirúrgicos. Esse tipo de anestesia consiste na aplicação de medicamentos anestésicos no espaço subdural, onde localiza-se o líquido cefalorraquidiano (LCR). Há diversas complicações que podem ocorrer com o ato da punção dural e dentre as principais complicações destaca-se a cefaléia pós raquianestesia. Além disso, é de extrema importância a identificação dos fatores de risco para o aparecimento desta cefaléia. O tratamento inclui medidas conservadoras como repouso no leito, hidratação moderada, uso de cafeína e analgésicos, além de evitar esforços. Outros métodos invasivos, como o tampão sanguíneo, também podem ser utilizados. É fundamental que médicos anestesiologistas tenham conhecimento sobre este assunto, pois além da dor ao paciente, que implica na sua insatisfação quanto ao procedimento, há um aumento do tempo de internação e custos hospitalares.

Spinal anesthesia is one of the oldest methods for relieving pain during surgical procedures. This type of anesthesia consists of applying anesthetic medications to the subdural space, where the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is located. There are several complications that can occur with the act of dural puncture and among the main complications, post-spinal anesthesia headache stands out. Furthermore, it is extremely important to identify the risk factors for the onset of this headache. Treatment includes conservative measures such as bed rest, moderate hydration, use of caffeine and painkillers, as well as avoiding exertion. Other invasive methods, such as blood patch, can also be used. It is essential that anesthesiologists have knowledge on this subject, as in addition to the patient’s pain, which results in their dissatisfaction with the procedure, there is an increase in the length of stay and hospital costs.
