A PROBLEMÁTICA DA DISTRIBUIÇÃO DE RENDA E DO DESENVOLVIMENTO NO COMPLEXO DO ALEMÃO

O presente estudo analisou a distribuição de renda no Complexo do Alemão, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A região era caracterizada pela grande variedade de vegetação e recursos hídricos, responsável pelo equilíbrio do ecossistema de grande parte da zona norte da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Embora a região seja abundante de muitas riquezas naturais, convive com grande desigualdade social. A instalação das UPP’s (Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora) no Complexo do Alemão não amenizou os problemas sociais, a região continuou com um baixo índice de desenvolvimento social (IDS), com valores de 0.53, em 2010, de acordo com os dados publicados pelo Instituto Pereira Passos. O problema da violência e da degradação ambiental, devido à atuação de mineradoras nas pedreiras na Serra da Misericórdia, tem sido um entrave para o desenvolvimento desta localidade. Este estudo reuniu informações e dados que foram tratados por meio de análise qualitativa e quantitativa. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que há uma necessidade de despertar a comunidade para a responsabilidade com o ambiente, além do grave problema da distribuição de renda e desigualdade social na comunidade.

The present study analyzed the income distribution in Complexo do Alemão, in the Rio de Janeiro city. The region was characterized by a wide variety of vegetation and water resources, responsible for the balance of the ecosystem of much of the northern part of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Although the region is abundant of many natural wealth, it coexists with great social inequality. The installation of the UPP's in the Complexo do Alemão did not ease social problems, the region continued with a low social development index (IDS), with values of 0.53, in 2010, according to data published by the Pereira Passos Institute. The problem of violence and environmental degradation due to mining operations in quarries in the Serra da Misericórdia, has been an obstacle to the development of this locality. This study gathered information and data that were treated through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results revealed that there is a need to awaken the community to the responsibility for the environment beyond the serious problem of income distribution and social inequality in the community.
