Considerando a sala de aula como um laboratório de pesquisa, este trabalho relata uma pesquisa que investigou quais eram os problemas mais recorrentes que os estudantes do terceiro ano do ensino médio dos cursos técnicos do Instituto Federal de Pernambuco – Campus Garanhuns– apresentavam quando produziam um resumo escolar a partir de um texto-base. O trabalho filiase principalmente aos estudos textuais, cujos dados foram levantados a partir de resumos produzidos pelos referidos alunos, em 2015. Os achados revelaram que os estudantes cometem equívocos ao produzirem seus textos, fugindo, muitas vezes, às características do gênero.

Considering the classroom as a research laboratory, this paper reports a research that investigated what were the most recurrent problems that students of the third year of high school technical courses of the Federal Institute of Pernambuco – Garanhuns Campus, Brazil - presented when they produced a abstract from a base text. The work is mainly related to textual studies, whose data were collected from abstracts produced by said students in 2015. The findings revealed that students make mistakes in producing their texts, often disrespecting the characteristics of the genre.
