When the topic of "alcohol" in Brazil is being dealt with, two facts stand out: it is the legal drug that is the most consumed and the age at which it is first taken ingestion is getting younger and younger. It is estimated that in 2010, every Brazilian over 15 years drank about 8.7 liters of pure alcohol–an amount that is above the world average. This fact contributes to a greater number of individuals with acute and chronic sequelae due to drinking alcohol every day and in excessive amounts. Therefore, it was decided to evaluate the profile of alcohol consumption among the adolescent population enrolled in two state high schools in the town of Serra Talhada-PE. A transversal intervention was carried out with 267 state school students in the Sertão do Pajeú, Pernambuco. To do so, these student participants in the project received training on the topic for which media resources, using both audio and visual mechanisms, were deployed. The "Test to identify Disorders arising from drinking Alcohol" and a demogr aphic questionnaire were applied at the start of the Project, which had received prior approval from the Committee on Ethics in Research. Evidence was found that the great majority of participants either consumed alcohol at a low level of risk or were tee- total. However, approximately one-fifth of the population presented alcohol habits with in risk zones. Although most of the sample was adequately covered by the intervention, it was also noticed that there is a need for new interventions and perhaps to include even younger pupils.
