O municÃpio de São Paulo corresponde a uma das maiores aglomerações urbanas
do mundo e a população, distribuÃda irregularmente pelo território, encontra
diferentes ambientes para a sua fixação. A cidade cresce pela ampliação das
periferias e a ocupação periférica é normalmente irregular às leis e ao ambiente. O
quadro torna-se mais crÃtico quando a ocupação chega e compromete as Ãreas de
Proteção e Recuperação aos Mananciais, fundamentais para a qualidade ambiental
urbana, importante critério para compor a definição de qualidade de vida. A
percepção da qualidade ambiental urbana, para o morador das áreas periféricas, é
instrumento para a conscientização e para a ação governamental e/ou individual.
Sao Paulo city is one of the biggest urban agglomerations in the world, and the
population, who are irregularly spread in the territory, find different environments to
live. The city has been growing in suburban and periphery areas, usually
disrespecting the environmental laws. The most problematic scenario is when the
irregular occupation arrives and endangers protected areas like water cleaning.
These areas are very important to support the urban environmental qualities. The
perception of the urban environmental qualities, by the population who lives in this
kind of area is the key to become conscious of the problem and to keep track of the
governmental or individual acts.
