A lucratividade não está relacionada somente à redução de custos e vendas em grande quantidade, mas sim à entrega de um produto capaz de ser considerado único nos espaços mercantis, englobando qualidade, preço e serviço ofertado. A logística aplicada no Porto de Rio Grande deve ser considerada como a estratégia mais oportuna para satisfazer, a um baixo custo, as exigências do mercado atual. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste artigo é destacar os entraves da logística portuária no Porto de Rio Grande (Porto Novo/Tecon). A pesquisa classifica-se como bibliográfica, com caráter exploratório-descritivo, de natureza qualitativa. Constatou-se que a maior mudança está relacionada à conscientização do empresariado quanto aos empreendimentos necessários para a qualificação de suas atividades logísticas. Os gargalos citados no referencial deste artigo referem-se à estrutura física portuária, mas também é importante analisar a qualificação dos profissionais ligados às atividades portuárias no Porto de Rio Grande. A pesquisa conclui que há necessidade de repensar o desenvolvimento urbano na Cidade de Rio Grande e não somente o desenvolvimento da infraestrutura física portuária.

It appears that the bottlenecks cited in the frame of this article refer to port physical structure, but it is also important to analyze the qualification of port activities related professionals in the Port of Rio Grande. We need to rethink urban development in Rio Grande City and not only the development of port physical infrastructure.
