A história é engendrada por fatos e sujeitos que a integram no perpassar do tempo, podendo ou não trazer mudanças permanentes. Nos séculos que antecederam a Reforma Protestante, o poder político era centralizado na monarquia, sendo assim, havia um conflito continuo entre igreja e estado, o papado entrou em declínio e a autoridade papal viu sua ruína. Consequentemente, fase da história marcada pela crise moral do clero religioso católico e as heresias medievais, desencadeou o movimento conhecido como Reforma Protestante. A Reforma Protestante representa um evento importante que incorporou fatores sociais, intelectuais e políticos, dispondo como principal ponto de partida a reforma religiosa mediante a corruptibilidade da igreja medieval. No século 16, homens de grande intelecto se levantaram para reformar a igreja, homens estudiosos que compreenderam as Escrituras Sagradas de forma hábil e rejeitando a falsa doutrina, defenderam com afinco o acesso de todos à Bíblia. A Reforma Protestante e seus participantes moldaram o intelecto dos indivíduos da Idade Moderna. O principal propósito desta pesquisa bibliográfica é descrever a história da Reforma Protestante e seus desdobramentos, apresentando o contexto em que adveio e os principais nomes responsáveis pelo seu processo. Dessarte, o legado deixado pelos reformadores marcaram a história e ainda perduram nos dias de hoje.
History is created by facts and subjects that are part of it over time, which may or may not bring about permanent changes. In the centuries preceding the Protestant Reformation, political power was centralized in the monarchy, and thus there was a continuous conflict between church and state, the papacy went into decline, and papal authority saw its ruin. Consequently, a phase of history marked by the moral crisis of the Catholic religious clergy and medieval heresies triggered the movement known as the Protestant Reformation. The Protestant Reformation represents an important event that incorporated social, intellectual, and political factors, with religious reform as its main starting point, given the corruptibility of the medieval church. In the 16th century, men of great intellect rose up to reform the church, scholars who skillfully understood the Holy Scriptures and rejected false doctrine, steadfastly defended access to the Bible for all. The Protestant Reformation and its participants shaped the intellect of individuals in the Modern Age. The main purpose of this bibliographical research is to describe the history of the Protestant Reformation and its developments, presenting the context in which it occurred and the main names responsible for its process. Thus, the legacy left by the reformers marked history and still endures today.
