This article aims to analyse the mains steps of the international relations between Holy See and People Ìs Republic of China, during the Pope John Paul II Ìs pontificate, seeking to highlight the historical and political circumstances that so far have hindered the re-establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and the Holy See, as John Paul II desired.
