The work has the object of showing the amount of use of information generated through
accounting, more specifically through reports and statements, in decision making processes of companies established in a shopping center. In the pursuit of this objective, two
research phases were contemplated. The first one was a bibliographic survey about the
theme of the research. The next step was to carry out an exploratory study, in which one
endeavored to establish a relationship between the theoretic boundary of the work and the
organizational reality. This basically consisted of an exploratory study, where the population
consisted of 210 shops in a shopping center and the sample, selected by accessibility, was
made up of 20 of these shops. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with
open and closed questions where the treatment of data was of a predominantly qualitative
nature. As a result of the research, the relationships between the decision making process
and the use of accounting information reports were obtained from the sample.
