O trabalho das rezadeiras
consiste em usar palavras e gestos
como agentes de cura – tanto dos
males que afligem o corpo quanto a
alma –, um misto de médica e de
farmacêutica das comunidades rurais
e de baixa renda do paÃs. Um olhar
através dos seus rituais, com atenção
especial às suas rezas e performance,
é o que pretendemos neste trabalho.
Using words and gestures
as healing agents: this is what defines
the work of the “rezadeirasâ€, a mix
of pharmacist and doctor - for the
illnesses that distress the body as well
as the soul – in the countryside and
poor communities of Brazil. A look
through their rituals, with special attention
