Este estudo se propõe a analisar e estabelecer comparações entre as representações de segurança no Rio de Janeiro, durante a Copa do Mundo de 2014, criadas pelo jornal O Globo e pelo dossiê Megaeventos e violações dos direitos humanos. Para evidenciar elementosque contribuam para o entendimento de contradições e proximidades das diferentes narrativas, utilizamos a análise de conteúdo, seguindo as diretrizes de Bardin (2016). Para compreender as construções simbólicas contidas nas páginas dos documentos, recorremos à teoria de representações sociais, de acordo com as diretivas de Jovchelovitch (2000). Os dados revelam que a mídia tradicional deu mais destaque aos benefícios que o Rio receberia com a chegada dos jogos, enquanto a mídia alternativa deu mais visibilidade às necessidades e reivindicações do povo. Acredita-se que as representações criadas pelos atores sociais sobre a cidade sede da Copa registram a memória, auxiliando-nos a investigar o que restou de um mundo antigo, e a amar ou rejeitar o que é novo.
This study aims to analyze and establish comparisons between the security representations in Rio de Janeiro, during the 2014 World Cup, created by the newspaper O Globo and the dossier Megaevents and human rights violations. In order to evidence elements that contribute to the understanding of contradictions and proximity of the different narratives, we use content analysis, following the guidelines of Bardin (2016). In order to understand the symbolic constructions contained in the pages of the documents, we have recourse to the theory of social representations, according to Jovchelovitch's (2000) directives. The data reveal that the traditional media gave more evidence to the benefits that Rio would receive with the arrival of the games, while the alternative media gave more visibility to the needs and demands of the people. It is believed that the representations created by the social actors aboutthe host city of the World Cup register memory, helping us to investigate what remains of an ancient world, and to enjoy or reject what is new.
