O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar o papel do Serviço Social na mediação dos conflitos Socioambientais tendo como parâmetro de análise, o conflito ambiental envolvendo a empresa RPM (Rio Paracatu mineração) e o município de Paracatu / MG. Para tanto, fundamentamos nossa pesquisa no estudo bibliográfico dos teóricos, Silva (2010); Ghlen; Raimundo (2011); Zhouri; Laschefski (2010), Santos (2012) entre outros, o que possibilitou obter informações a respeito da problemática discutida no trabalho. Para além de destacar os impactos ambientais causados pela atuação da mineradora no município, a pesquisa contribui para a reflexão das possibilidades do assistente social contribuir com a preservação dos direitos da comunidade atingida. Percebemos que cabe ao assistente social enquanto agente interventor da realidade social, ter uma postura ética, estando compromissado com a diretriz que norteia o serviço social e frente às demandas que lhes são apresentadas, deve buscar reformular a sua prática, através do aprimoramento constante do seu conhecimento, contribuindo para o fortalecimento e organização dos grupos populares envolvidos.

This study aims to analyze the role of social work in mediating the Socio-environmental conflicts as an analytical parameter, the environmental conflict involving the company RPM (Rio Paracatu mining) and the Paracatu / MG. To this end, we base our research on the bibliographical study of theoretical, Silva (2010); Ghlen; Raymond (2011); Zhouri; Laschefski (2010), Santos (2012) among others, which allowed information about the issues discussed at work. In addition to highlighting the environmental impacts caused by mining activities in the municipality, research contributes to the reflection of the possibilities of social worker contribute to the preservation of the rights of the affected community. We realize that it is the social worker while intervening agent of social reality, have an ethical and is committed to the policy that guides the social service and meet the demands presented to them, should seek to reformulate their practice, through the continuous improvement of its knowledge, contributing to the strengthening and organization of grassroots groups involved.
