Este artigo trata da influência
das formas materiais na formação
identitária de indivÃduos e grupos,
entendendo que as restrições fÃsicas
impostas pela materialidade ao corpo
constituem-se em canais que comunicam
regras socioculturais. Através da
arqueologia fenomenológica é proposta
uma visão que percebe o dualismo
caracterÃstico da sociedade ocidental
como uma criação cultural e não como
algo inato ao ser humano.
This article focuses upon
the influence of material forms in
the formation of identity in individuals
and groups. It argues that the
physical restrictions imposed to the
body by materiality are means that
communicate social and cultural rules.
Through phenomenological archaeology
it argues that Cartesian dualism
is rather a cultural construction of
Western society than something that
is innate to human being.
