O presente artigo visa analisar as representações de estudantes de graduação candidatos à seleção em bolsa de iniciação extensionista. Estes estudantes participaram de oficinas de orientação sobre elaboração de planos de trabalho para atuar em Projetos/Programas de Extensão promovidas pela Pró-Reitoria de Extensão da Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana - UEFS em 2010. A análise fundamenta-se no conceito teóricometodológico de Representação proposto por Chartier e na revisão da concepção de extensão a partir de Paulo Freire (1983) e do Plano Nacional de Extensão Universitária (BRASIL, 2000/2001). Busca-se estabelecer relações entre as representações dos estudantes sobre a extensão, seus efeitos sobre as práticas extensionistas e o lugar periférico que a Extensão ainda ocupa na vida acadêmica das universidades brasileiras.

This present paper aims analyzing the undergraduates’ representations, applicants for selection in extension’s initiation scholarship. Theses students have participated in orientation courses about elaboration of work plans for acting in Extension Projects/ Programs promoted by Department of Extension (PROEX) of the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), in 2010. The analyze is based upon theoretical-methodological concept of Representation, proposed by Chartier and inte review of the conception of extension from Paulo Freire (1983), Pedro Demo (2001), and the National Plan of University Extension (BRASIL, 2000/2001). Seeks after relations between the students representations about the extension, their effects upon the extension’s practices and the place laid aside, wherein the Extension still resides in the academic life of the Brazilian universities.
