A rodovia Transamazônica teve ampla repercussão na imprensa nacional quando foi inaugurada na década de 1970. Passados cinquenta anos, considerando que a estrada segue inacabada, indaga-se quais representações estão presentes no imaginário social sobre ela. O objetivo deste artigo é identificar a percepção que se tem construído sobre a Transamazônica, utilizando a metodologia da análise de discurso. Foram selecionados reportagens e textos jornalísticos de quatro veículos da grande imprensa nacional, entre 1970 e 2020. Foram destacados os seguintes marcadores: desenvolvimento, esperança, integração e devastação. Concluímos que a percepção sobre a rodovia muda com o tempo, evidenciando as contradições nos conceitos que expressam a trajetória da estrada.
The Transamazon Highway had wide repercussions in the national press when it was inaugurated in the 1970s. Fifty years later, considering that the road remains unfinished, one asks which representations are present in the social imagination about it. The aim of this article is to identify the perception that has been built about the Transamazon, using the methodology of discourse analysis. Journalistic texts from four major national press vehicles were selected, between 1970 and 2020. The following markers were highlighted: development, hope, integration and devastation. We conclude that the perception of the highway changes over time, highlighting the contradictions in the concepts that express the trajectory of the highway.
