O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar narrativas sobre a trajetória do Movimento Sindical Rural (MSR) em Tomé-Açu, Nordeste Paraense, tendo como principal foco as lideranças. Com isso, analisamos a criação de novos sindicatos – o Sindicato de Agricultores e Agricultoras Familiares (Sintraf) e o Sindicato de Empregados e Empregadas Rurais (Sindter) – ambos desmembrando-se do Sindicato dos Trabalhadores e Trabalhadoras Rurais (STTR) –, e seu impacto no movimento sindical do município. A pesquisa tem uma abordagem qualitativa utilizando entrevistas não diretivas e documentos como fonte de dados. Os resultados demonstram a importância das lideranças no processo de construção da estrutura de representação dessas categorias e revelam os desafios atuais do sindicalismo em Tomé-Açu, especialmente os ligados à expansão da dendeicultura.
This article presents narratives on the trajectory of the Rural Trade Union Movement (MSR) in Tomé-Açu, located in northeastern Pará state, Brazil, with a primary focus on its leaders. We also analyze the creation of new unions, the Family Farmers Union (SINTRAF) and the Rural Employees Union (SINDTER), both of which originated from the Rural Workers Union (STTR), along with their impact on the municipality's union movement. A qualitative approach was utilized, with non-directive interviews to collect data. The results demonstrate the importance of leadership in the process of structuring the representation of these categories and reveal the current challenges that face trade unionism in Tomé-Açu, especially those linked to the expansion of oil palm cultivation.
