casablanca x mejorado), visando aumentar a produtividade.
The objective of this study was to test different pre-germination treatments to
assess the germination of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis hib. casablanca x
mejorado), to increase productivity. The seeds were treated as follows: control, immersion in
coconut water, sodium hypochlorite, gibberellic acid, potassium nitrate, water at 70 ° C and
mechanical scarification with sandpaper. The data were submitted to the Tukey test at 5%
probability. After 10 days of culture the results showed that the treatments inhibited
germination and seedling root growth compared with the control and coconut water. The
shoot growth was inhibited in the treatments with sodium hypochlorite and mechanical
scarification. This seed has low germination rate of the field, but it is observed that a
percentage of controls was 100% in the laboratory, more than all other treatments. Thus, we
suggest new studies in the field with the same standards for evaluating a possible interference
in the germination.
