A. Cardinaletti e M. Starke em The Typology of Structural Deficiency. On the Three Gramatical Classes propõem uma divisão dos pronomes pessoais em três classes: fortes, fracos, clÃticos e afirmam que a base das assimetrias que permite essa divisão é a deficiência da estrutura. O artigo examina os dados do português do Brasil à luz daquela proposta.
In "The tipology of structural deficiency: on the three grammatical classes", A. Cardinaletti and M. Starke propose a partition of personal pronouns into three classes: strong, weak, and clitic. This partition is supported by an array of asymmetries across all components of grammar. The authors claim that the trigger for all these asymmetries is the structural deficiency. On the basis of this analysis, this paper will explore some data from Brazilian Portuguese as compared to data from Spanish.
