Este artigo analisa uma espécie de feliz coincidência ou um encontro marcado, porém imaginário, entre as idéias de Gilberto Freyre e a obra pictórica de Albert Eckhout, com alguns séculos de distância. Este cruzamento só poderia ocorrer através do olhar e das questões formuladas por um historiador que se debruça sobre eles num outro momento histórico, retraçando a descoberta de um outro Brasil, realizada por Freyre.
This article analyzes a kind of happy coincidence or a marked meeting, however imaginary, between the Gilberto Freyre’s ideas and the Albert Eckhout’s paintings, with some centuries of distance. This crossing could occur only through the look and the questions formulated for a historian who leans over on them in a other historical moment, retracing the discovery of another Brazil, made by Freyre.
