Um literato feminista: Jônatas Batista e as ampliações das responsabilidades femininas em Teresina (1906-1927)

Este artigo busca analisar a participação dos literatos no processo de ampliação das responsabilidades sociais das mulheres, durante as primeiras décadas do século XX, em Teresina (PI), privilegiando a trajetória social de Jônatas Batista e seus posicionamentos perante o processo histórico que se desenrolava. Os escritos deste literato permitem identificar os debates sobre o feminismo e as novas demandas que surgiam na cidade. Como fontes, utiliza poemas, crônicas e a peça Astúcia de Mulher, escrita por Jônatas Batista em 1925. Argumenta-se que por meio das funções de cronista, dramaturgo, conferencista e poeta, Jônatas Batista buscou interferir em seu cotidiano e legitimar atitudes consideradas feministas, dentre elas a atuação na política, imprensa e esportes modernos.

This article seeks to analyze the participation of writers in the process of enlarging social responsibilities of women during the first decades of the twentieth century in Teresina (PI), focusing on the social trajectory of Jônatas Batista and their positions before the historical process unfolding. The writings of this literary allow us to identify the debates about feminism and the new demands that emerged in the city. As sources, we use poetry, chronicles and the piece woman Cunning, written by Jônatas Batista in 1925. It is argued that through chronicler functions, playwright, lecturer and poet, Jônatas Batista sought to interfere with their daily lives and legitimate feminist attitudes considered, among them the role in political, media and modern sports.
