O presente artigo propõe uma revisão histórica do teatro infantil brasileiro, debruçando-se principalmente sobre a produção dramatúrgica voltada à criança na primeira metade do século XX. Tem-se como fito inventariar um marcante acontecimento referente a essa história, a saber, a ramificação da ideia de teatro infantil em duas práticas: o teatro infantil escolar, realizado por crianças em contextos educativos, e o teatro infantil de arte, espetáculos para crianças representados em contextos profissionais e comerciais por artistas adultos. Atrelado a isso, está o interesse em analisar os ecos contemporâneos dessa cisão.
The current paper proposes a historical review of the Brazilian children’s theater, mainly focusing on the dramaturgical production directed to the child during the first half of the twentieth century. The aim is to inventory a distinguished event concerning the history, more specifically the ramification of the idea of children’s theater in two practices: the children’s school theater, performed by children in educational contexts, and the children’s art theater, plays for children represented in professional and commercial contexts by adult artists. Linked to this is the interest in analyzing the contemporary echoes of this sort of division.
