Diante da conjuntura e da importância do diálogo entre o fazer política e o fazer saúde, a pesquisa teve por objetivo descrever como o Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) foi abordado nos planos de governo de candidatos à prefeitura de um município do Estado de Alagoas. Metodologicamente, tratou-se de um estudo descritivo com a técnica de pesquisa documental. Os documentos objeto de pesquisa foram extraídos do portal de divulgação de candidaturas do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral. Em um primeiro momento, expõe-se o plano de governo dos três candidatos paraa área de saúde e em um segundo, apresenta-se as pautas prioritárias para o setor propostas pelo Conselho Nacional de Saúde buscando estabelecer conexões entre o que se espera pelo controle social a nível Brasil e o que foi proposto a nível local discutindo à luz da legislação pertinente em saúde e das políticas nacionais. Percebeu-se que o Sistema Único de Saúde foi abordado de forma superficial por todos os candidatos, assim, parece que os postulantes desconheciamas generalidades e especificidadesdas principais políticas de saúde vigentes no País e a estrutura e o funcionamento do sistema de saúde, visto que, em sua maioria, as propostas destoaram do que preconiza a legislação do SUS. As propostas dos candidatos pouco dialogaram com a carta de saúde pública elaborada pelo CNS.
Given the situation and the importance of the dialogue between doing politics and doing health, the research aimed to describe how the Unified Health System was approached in the government plans of candidates for mayor of a city in the state of Alagoas. Methodologically, it was a descriptive study with the technique of documentary research. The documents object of research were extracted from the candidacy portal of the Superior Electoral Court. At first, the government plan of the three candidates for the health area is exposed and in a second, the priority guidelines for the sector proposed by the National Health Council are presented, seeking to establish connections between what is expected by the control at the Brazilian level and what was proposed at the local level discussing in the light of the relevant health legislation and national policies. It was noticed that the Unified Health Systemwas approached superficially by all candidates, thus, it seems that the candidates were unaware of the generalities and specificities of the main health policies in force in the country and the structure and functioning of the health system, as seen that,for the most part, the proposals differed from what the SUS legislation advocates. The candidates proposals had little to do with the public health charter prepared by the CNS.
