Resumo Inglês:

Occupation in the study region is associated with the way German immigration was structured in the State of RS. The Europeans who came to Rio Grande do Sul had production techniques brought from their origin, which gave rise to commercial agriculture. In the period that followed the arrival of the immigrants, there was a rapid economic growth of the region, based on the agricultural activity that supplied the city of Porto Alegre. This led to an accumulation of capital that allowed the beginning of industrial activities. The process of industrialization was linked to the development of agriculture and livestock due to the existence of an internal market that had abundant labor and raw materials. The development of industrial operations and the consequent deepening of capitalist relations  have laid the foundations for a socially exclusive and environmentally unsustainable regional model, which is why the dynamics of conflicts within the area under study intensifies. The main objective was to delimit the different forms of land use present in the region, identifying the resulting conflicts, with special interest in the forms of occupation of the urban space and its consequences. In the areas of typical urban use, 3 clearly differentiated occupation patterns were identified, defined as high, medium and low, according to established indicators (building standards, infrastructure conditions and available services). Areas that do not fulfill typical urban functions were considered as possible reserves of value to be incorporated by the real estate market.
