Este estudo tem como objetivo investigar a utilização das informações contábeis para fins gerenciais no processo de tomada de decisão das empresas do ramo salineiro da cidade de Mossoró-RN, identificando e categorizando as decisões a partir de informações contidas em relatórios que venham refletir a realidade organizacional, assim como controlar e planejar melhor o destino de suas atividades. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo, sendo pesquisadas 24 empresas do setor salineiro de um total de 37 organizações, representando assim 64,9% da população pesquisada. A análise dos dados obtidos possibilitou verificar que a maior parte das empresas utilizam os relatórios gerenciais em suas tomadas de decisões internas, ou seja, aqueles emitidos com critérios próprios da organização, e que estas informações em sua maioria são fornecidas pela contabilidade possibilitando decisões de controle operacional e estratégico em suas decisões. Conclui-se assim que os representantes das empresas salineiras mostraram conhecimento e utilização de relatórios elaborados e moldados com base em cada tipo de decisão e adaptado para suas necessidades, entretanto ressalta-se que os mesmos não deixaram de utilizar os relatórios tradicionais, porém destinados ao usuário externo.

This study aims to investigate the use of accounting information for management purposes in the decision-making process of the companies of the salt industry in the city of Mossoro-RN identifying and categorizing decisions based on information contained in reports that will reflect the organizational reality and to monitor and plan better target their activities. For this, a field research was conducted, and surveyed 24 companies of the salt industry a total of 37 organizations, representing 64.9% of the surveyed population. The analysis of the data enabled us to verify that the majority of companies use management reports on their internal decision-making, ie those issued with the organization's own criteria, and that this information is provided mostly by accounting enabling control decisions operational and strategic in their decisions. It is therefore concluded that representatives of salineiras companies showed knowledge and use of reports and shaped on the basis of each type of decision and adapted to your needs, however it is emphasized that they did not fail to use the traditional reporting, but intended for external user.
