Objetivo: Avaliar o conhecimento do profissional que lida diretamente com assistência ventilatória mecânica em relação as modalidades de volume alvo. Método: Trata-se de um estudo do tipo transversal, quantitativo com aplicação de um questionário com perguntas diretas sobre a modalidade, participaram 24 profissionais entre fisioterapeutas e médicos atuantes na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal do Hospital Barão de Lucena, entre outubro de 2019 a janeiro de 2020. Resultados: Identificamos que apenas 62,5% dos profissionais receberam treinamento para a modalidade, 33,3% sentem-se aptos para utilizá-la e apenas 50% saberiam como proceder ao desmame. Questionados sobre os benefícios 87,5% acreditam nos desfechos positivos para população neonatal, 100% colocariam em prática pós treinamento. Conclusão: O questionário possibilitou uma análise crítica sobre a modalidade e os profissionais atuantes na UTI neonatal, evidenciando que com a realização de treinamento teremos profissionais aptos e capacitados na administração da modalidade e melhora clínica e subjetiva desses pacientes.

When asked about the benefits 87.5% believe in positive outcomes for neonatal population, 100% would put in practice after training. Conclusion: The questionnaire allowed a critical analysis about the modality and the professionals working in the neonatal ICU, evidencing that with the training we will have capable professionals in the administration of the modality and clinical and subjective improvement of these patients.
