Suínos possuem particularidades quanto aos aspectos anestésicos comparados às espécies domésticas. Há poucas referências na literatura referente a protocolos anestésicos usados em suínos, o uso de Azaperone é o mais recomendado fazendo necessários maiores estudos. A anestesia total intravenosa apresenta diversas justificativas de uso, devido sua praticidade e eficiência. Por se tratar de um animal comumente de zona rural, inúmeras vezes o procedimento é realizado a campo sem o instrumental necessário. O presente relato descreve o caso de uma suíno submetida a uma ovariohisterectomia, como medicação pré-anestésica Acepromazina na indução e Cetamina, associado à Xilazina em bolus. Observou-se que o protocolo utilizado não atendeu a analgesia desejada para a cirurgia.
Swine have particularities regarding anesthetic aspects when compared to domestic species. There are few references in the literature regarding anesthetic protocols used in swine, and the use of Azaperone is the most recommended, requiring further studies. Total intravenous anesthesia has several justifications for its use, due to its practicality and efficiency. Because this animal is commonly found in rural areas, many times the procedure is performed in the field without the necessary instruments. The present report describes the case of a pig submitted to an ovariohysterectomy, using as pre-anesthetic medication Acepromazine in the induction and Ketamine, associated with Xylazine in bolus. It was observed that the protocol used did not meet the analgesia desired for the surgery.
