O presente trabalho teve como objetivo realizar um estudo com a finalidade de verificar as áreas de preservação ambiental, adjacentes aos Rios Uruguai e Turvo no município de Esperança do Sul, RS. Realizou o estudo por intermédio de entrevistas com produtores rurais. Com base nas informações obtidas, conclui-se que existe ocupação de áreas de preservação com atividades agrícolas. Algumas soluções por parte das autoridades públicas começaram a ser introduzidas com a finalidade de reduzir a ocupação ilegal, como por exemplo, a criação de um termo de conduta para os produtores, além da distribuição de arvores nativas para reflorestar as áreas degradadas
